Context

I am a Marketing Operations Technician in the hosting pod at GoDaddy. Our pod is responsible for increasing user engagement and click-though-rates on GoDaddy’s core hosting pages.

One specific problem our pod encountered related to the business hosting pages on GoDaddy.com. Unfortunately, these pages had high bounce rates and low click-through rates.

 

The Goal & My Role

Our pod needed to redesign the main hosting page on GoDaddy’s website to:

  • Create an expanded navigation structure for GoDaddy’s hosting products that helps users find the best products for their particular needs
  • Ensure it meets the new GoDaddy brand standards
  • Increase hosting product conversions and revenue

During this project, my role was to:

  • Brainstorm and suggest ideas for how we could accomplish these goals
  • Implement the split test onto the GoDaddy.com website
  • QA the split test in production

Key Findings

Heatmap data showed high engagement in the product selection cards much lower on the page. This could indicate users are much more interested in content lower on the page that is not being addressed earlier.

User testing also revealed that GoDaddy website visitors were struggling to understand the difference between our hosting products. As a result, the hosting product pages had high bounce rates and low conversion rates.

The Hypothesis

If we move the most engaging sections above the fold and condense the text within plan boxes, then we should see a lift in conversion rates on hosting product pages.

Our UX Architect, Brady, created a mockup of the new hosting category page. Our Copywriter, Saya, wrote the copy for the page. Once the mockup was complete, we reviewed it as a pod together and brainstormed ways to improve it further.
